Hey everyone! Hope you enjoyed Thursday night.

Wednesday 31st 11am-2pm: Coffee Morning, Room 3, Student Centre.

Thursday 1st 6pm: Science Th.F, Special Hallowe’en Horror Movie Night: The Dunwich Horror

From IMDB.com
H.P. Lovecraft meets Hollywood: Wilbur Whateley wants to help the Old Ones break through by consulting the Necronomicon, and Armitage must stop him. Attractive females are added to fill out the plot. Written by Brian Bixby {barbix@tiac.net}

Dr. Henry Armitage, Sandra Dee and another girl who wasn’t in the book visit the library of the Miskatonic University where they are studying, and find a mysterious young man named Wilbur Whateley trying to borrow the Necronomicon (to non-HPL fans : a book containing ancient rites to bring alien gods to our planet), and as it is a public library they let him. Sandra Dee offers to drive the moustachioed warlock back to his home in Dunwich, where he drugs her and makes her stay to be a part in his evil ceremonies.

Hey everyone. As most of you know we here in PaganSoc have an annual Samhain Party. This year it’s on October 25th, in the Blue Room (upstairs in the Student Centre) from 6pm.

To celebrate the forthcoming celebrations we’re having 10 facts of Samhain as we count-down the days.

Fact #10:

Here’s a little Paganism-in-Pop-Culture: The Festival of Samhain is mentioned in Halloween II and Halloween III: Season of the Witch as an explanation for Michael Myers’ murderous behavior

The Observer, released today has an article by Niamh O’Keeffe, “Trick or Truth”.

We come-off quite well and it is quite worth reading.

I will post a transcript as soon as I can.

Fact #8:

The Irish word Samhain is derived from the Old Irish samain, samuin, or samfuin, all referring to 1 November (latha na samna: ’samhain day’) and the festival and royal assembly held on that date in medieval Ireland (oenaig na samna: ’samhain assembly’).
