Hello all,

Hope you are all enjoying your summer. I am happy to pass on an invitation to you all from our Finnish cousins Pakanaverkko. Below is the email they sent me.

Dear Pagans!

I am happy to invite you all to

Pakanaverkko’s Dublin Pub Moot

held on Friday 10th of August at Dublin city centre – place will be
announced later (suggestions are welcomed). Participation is free and
inspired by the spirit of Good Will; come one, come all!

Pakanaverkko, the Finnish Pagan Network association, is organising a trip
to Ireland to see wondeurful Irish pagan sights (especially Brú na Boinne
and Hill of Tara). We are also hoping to have a get-together (pub moot)
with local pagans to share ideas, to discuss pagan paths in Finland and
Ireland, to establish new friendships and contacts, and, most
importantly, have a fun night out.

Finland has a very active pagan community, but as the information and
publications are predominantly in Finnish, the activities tend to be very
local. This trip, organised by two Dublin-based active members, is a small
attempt to bring participating people and pagan cultures (ancient as well
as contemporary) in contact.

There will be around a dozen Finns attending the meeting, all of them more
than happy to switch to English for any local pagans to participate the
discussion. The group will consist of people practicing, studying or being
interested in Wicca, Finnish Shamanism, Western Left-Hand Path, etc. –
from followers of specific traditions to very eclectic “general pagans”.

If people are interested, there will be a short introduction about Finnish
contemporary and historical paganism, and free discussion after that. The
Finns will be dearly interested to hear what it is like to be pagan in
Ireland, and the folklore that is near and dear to you, will be most
exotic to them – and vice versa!

Welcome the magic of the northern lights, sauna, Kalevala and midnight
sun! Let the tonttu-elves and leprachauns, selkie and näkki, and
Väinämöinen and Lugh shake hands. This is an event that’s not likely to
happen again soon, so don’t miss it!

Feel free to spread the word, you are all warmly welcome!
